Watching news nowadays never fails to amaze me, especially since the country has been enduring quite a beating due to the price hike, the corruption still widespread. Before I really don't watch the news, but hey, it's time to be informed.
It's cool that MMDA are now strictly enforcing the No Smoking campaign on Public Utility Vehicle or PUVs. Jeeps, buses, tricycle drivers and passengers (Yes, even the passengers) are caught and asked to pay a fine of 200 pesos, and are given a seminar if caught for the first time. I remember having rode an ordinary bus from DLSU-Manila to Cavite, and when the bus stopped at Coastal Road, a guy (about 50's) rode the bus, sat, and smoked a cigarette. Then a big, burly American stepped inside as well, and began shouting NO SMOKING INSIDE THE BUS! a lot of times. The pinoy guy just stared, even smirked, while the American shouted and shouted. He eventually got pissed, stepped out of the bus, and was still pointing to the guy, still shouting. Inside the bus? They all comforted the guy, saying it was nothing. Great. People have to see the implications of smoking inside PUVs, especially the drivers.
A certain commercial also caught my attention, and it was the Colt 45 commercial. It was about a muscular guy shouting that Bamboo (lead vocals of the pinoy band Bamboo) was seating in his seat. Bamboo was drinking Colt 45, shoots blue flame to Mr. Muscle, and was reduced to smithereens. Commercials are introducing the impossible. Heck, any guy who thinks straight will know that:
1. You can not shoot blue flame when drinking Colt 45 or any beer. Beer will make you think you can actually shoot blue flame. LOL
2. Beer may make you more courageous, but it doesn't mean you take some other's seat and blast them to smithereens if they shout at you.
Overall, pretty stupid. Go ahead, try it. Don't say that I didn't warn you.
